What it is and why it matters
SAP MM (Materials Management) controls the purchasing cycle and inventory. It's the module where bad configuration shows the most: inventory that doesn't match the physical count, clearing accounts with old balances and material prices that distort cost. We work it hand in hand with finance so SAP inventory is a figure management can trust.
What we configure
- Purchase requisitions, purchase orders and release strategies
- Outline agreements, scheduling agreements and info records
- Goods receipts, transfers and goods issues
- Invoice verification (MIRO) and GR/IR clearing account reconciliation
- Inventory valuation: standard price, moving average price and Material Ledger
- Automatic account determination to FI
- Migration of material and supplier masters and opening inventory
What we see most in SAP MM
System inventory doesn't match the physical count
We review movement types, warehouse processes and operating discipline to close differences at the source.
The GR/IR clearing account keeps building up
We identify receipts without invoices and invoices without receipts, and adjust the process so they clear on their own.
Purchases are released without control
We design release strategies by amount, purchasing group or material type.
Where we work inside SAP
Every MM movement creates an accounting document through account determination. MM connects with PP (production consumption and receipts), SD (goods issues for deliveries), QM (receiving inspection), EWM (physical warehouse operation) and FI/CO (valuation and costs). In S/4HANA the Material Ledger is mandatory for inventory valuation.

SAP MM FAQ
Can you help if our SAP inventory doesn't reconcile with accounting?
Yes. It's one of our most common projects: we compare inventory with GL accounts, find the root cause of the differences and fix process and configuration.
Do you work MM in SAP Business One?
Yes. In Business One we configure purchasing, inventory and warehouses with the same focus on integration with finance.
Do you migrate material master data?
Yes. We clean, standardize and load material and supplier masters, and reconcile opening inventory against the previous system.
